Consultations

At The Expert Skin Clinic in Northampton, we’re passionate about providing a unique service to everyone. That’s why a skin consultation is essential as it helps us really get to know you, your skin type and your skin concerns in order to create a bespoke treatment plan. This will also include a homecare plan too as this works hand in hand with your clinic plan to achieve your best skin yet.

Every treatment will require a skin consultation first, especially if it’s your first time having that treatment with us.

How it works

Once you book in for the relevant consultation, one of our skin practitioners will send you a consultation form to fill out. This will help us to gain an understanding of your skin or blemish concerns or condition, ahead of your appointment.

A consultation form will ask you about your skin and medical history, as well as your skin concerns and skin goals.

In your face to face consultation, we will review the form with you and further discuss any concerns or questions raised to get a better understanding of your skin.

We will then analyse your skin as a whole or the specific concern or blemish in order to identify what it is. In most cases, the final outcome of your initial skin consultation will be a recommendation of the best course of treatment with us.

We are advanced practitioners in blemish removal and skin treatments, accredited to look out for abnormal skin blemishes. Early detection of an unhealthy skin blemish or lesion can save lives. If we see something that doesn’t look right, we will advise you to see a dermatologist, who may medically remove the blemish in order for it to be tested.

Results

If we go ahead with a recommended treatment, please be aware that whilst the results of some of our treatments are instantaneous, others can take weeks or months to see the full results. This is just the nature of some skin treatments so patience is essential!

Some of our treatments require healing or downtime. For example, blemish removal can result in initial scabbing whilst the blemish breaks down and the area heals. Other treatments such as chemical peels can cause skin shedding afterwards, which is something to bear in mind, especially if you have events coming up.

FAQs

What should I expect during my skin clinic consultation?

During your skin clinic consultation, you will have a chance to discuss your skin concerns with us. Your skin will be examined, and the skin practitioner will recommend a personalised treatment plan that best suits your needs, taking into consideration medical history, skin type and healing, and lifestyle conditions.

Do I need to bring anything to my consultation?

It is recommended that you bring a list of any medications you are currently taking, as well as a list of any skincare products you have used in the past. This will help the skin practitioner gain a better understanding of your skin’s history and how it has responded to previous treatments.

How long will my skin consultation take?

Most skin consultations typically last between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of your skin concerns and the extent of the examination.

How much does a skin consultation cost?

A consultation for any treatment costs £50. However, if you’re having a skin blemish removed, this may also require a patch test, which will be an additional £50. This is to check how your skin will react to the treatment and avoid long term hyperpigmentation.

How soon will I see results after my skin treatment?

Results can vary depending on the type of treatment and the severity of your skin concerns. Some treatments may show immediate results, while others may take several weeks to months to produce visible improvements.
