Thread Vein Removal Northampton

What is a thread vein?

Thread veins are small blood vessels that can become dilated and sit closer to the surface of the skin, therefore becoming visible. Sometimes also referred to as spider veins, they can appear for a number of reasons including genetics, sun exposure, trauma to the skin or hormones.

They most commonly appear around the nose, cheeks and chin and sometimes on the neck or even the legs and have the below features;

  • Fine red, pink or purple lines

  • Single vessels or small branching clusters

Thread veins are completely harmless, however, many people can become self conscious of them if they are in very visible areas like the face so will choose to get them removed.

Please note: If your thread veins are located on your legs, this requires a slightly different treatment called Microsclerotherapy and will need to be carried out by a nurse. Therefore, you’ll be referred to the relevant person for this treatment.

How to remove thread veins?

Thread vein removal is a straightforward procedure, carried out frequently at The Expert Blemish Clinic.

Most people require 3-4 sessions to achieve a good result, meaning that you’ll most likely have a course of treatment rather than a one-off. Everyone's skin is different and patients can respond in different ways, so this is something we will assess as we go. Thread veins are a vascular condition, meaning that new vessels can appear over time so please bear in mind that annual top ups may be required. (moved in line with note)

We treat thread veins using advanced electrolysis thermolysis. This method consists of a fine heated probe directly targeting the blood vessels and breaking them down until they disappear.

How advanced electrolysis thermolysis treats thread veins

Thermolysis is a precise treatment used to reduce the appearance of small thread veins and broken capillaries.

A very fine probe delivers a controlled burst of high-frequency energy directly to the vein.

This energy is converted into gentle heat, which causes the blood inside the vein to coagulate and the vein wall to seal. Once sealed, the vein can no longer carry blood.

The body then naturally breaks down and reabsorbs the treated vein over the following weeks through the lymphatic system. Blood flow is safely redirected through surrounding healthy vessels.

What to expect after treatment

It is normal to experience temporary redness, mild swelling, or darkening of the treated vein immediately after treatment. This is a sign that the vein has responded to the heat and is beginning the healing process.

As the area settles, the treated vein will gradually fade and become less visible. Once a vein has been successfully treated, it does not return, although new veins can develop over time due to factors such as genetics, rosacea, or hormonal changes.

Thread Vein Removal at The Expert Blemish Clinic in Northampton

1. Book a blemish consultation

We require all our patients to have a thorough assessment before any method of blemish removal. At The Expert Blemish Clinic, we follow strict medical guidelines to prioritise your overall skin health, not just aesthetics.

If we suspect that your skin blemish is anything of concern, we may suggest you have it scanned using our innovative Map My Mole technology. This sends a detailed photograph of the blemish off to dermatologists, who send a result back within 2 to 48 hours. If all is fine and we get the go ahead, we can continue with the treatment plan and blemish removal.

2. Thread Vein removal

If your skin blemish has been confirmed as thread veins, we will book you in for removal. As mentioned, this will likely be a course of treatments and there may be downtime required between each one.

Prior to your appointment, you would’ve had a full brief in your consultation so you understand exactly what will happen and how the procedure will work.

We are situated within Dallington Fitness on Poyntz Lane, offering free parking and a lovely waiting area so hopefully the experience will be as stress-free as possible!

3. The follow up

Depending on how many treatments you need, you may have a follow up appointment in between each session and a final one at the end of the course. We like to allow at least 6 weeks until we assess the blemish to give time for proper downtime and healing.
